| I've got birds of all ages apparently. I believe most are juveniles, but I know I have a few mature cocks and hens - mostly because I have three 8-9 week old babies and the hen is on eggs again. The babies are sweet as sugar, the rest? Not so much! FWIW, 26 budgies aren't NEARLY as nice to listen to as 4-5!!! They are REALLY noisy. | |

| Wait, 26? Did I miss something? They're sooooooooo cute! You're lucky that I don't live near you. Every night you'd wake up with a missing budgie | |

I'm probably not going to be keeping all of them, just the ones I think I'll be using for breeding. They don't know it yet, but the goal of these little birds is to fall in and make pretty little budgie babies!

| I love that one budgie with the light blue and light yellow. I saw one exactly like him at petsmart the other day. Took all my strength not to take him home. | |

(you make us confusing ) I have 26 budgies - I think. They keep moving, so it's hard to count them, but the best I can figure, I have 26. My favorite is the Cinnamon Blue hen. She's the 2nd and 3rd up from the bottom. She's just beautiful as far as I'm concerned. I'm trying to figure out how best to get cinnamon babies out of her when the cinnamon trait is sex-linked and I don't know that any of my males carry the trait. I may have to resort to line-breeding, even though I'd really rather not do that. If anyone runs across any male cinnamon budgies, let me know. I think I'd be very interested in him! I wish I could get pics of all of them. I've got some of the most beautiful budgies I've ever seen. I'm so fortunate to have stumbled on to some of these. I just can't wait to see what kinds of babies they produce. I'll be the luckiest birdie-momma ever!

| I would love to breed budgies. But, I'd probably end up keeping all the babies. | |

Hee hee! I can already tell, it's going to be HARD not to! I'm going to have to keep myself focused on what I eventually want my line to look like, that'll make it easier to know which ones to keep and which ones to go ahead and sell. I'm quite taken with the dilutes, the yellow face type 2's, and the cinnamon's - and combine any of those with opaline or spangle, and *sigh*. I've got quite a few greens and it's tempting to just go ahead and sell them because I'm not particularly interested in that line - mainly because it's so dominant. BUT, I don't know what else they might be carrying that I could tease out and use over time... I know some of them have additional dark factors, and I think one may be carrying a violet factor - which is beautiful in the right bird but it barely shows up in a green bird. So you see? Its complicated, and I think that's what's made it so interesting to me. There's a little bit of science, a little bit of luck, and a lot of bird. It seems like heaven to me!
