I love spend money for my bird's toys!(Good that my bf is not here suspect )

And I do understand that people, who make toys have to make money and that they are not the "Salvation Army", but over &100 for a one single atom, come on...

I was searching for a while for cheap "parts" to make atom for my birds and holiday's sale in craft store made me jump one day.
I spend for everything (including toy from Crystal's Bird Toys, which I clipped there) less than $20. It took me good couple of hours, but not over $100! Very Happy

Great job!! Very Happy I love it!! I was gonna make one for my birds as well.

Next time, you should try hanging the atom tilted on an angle so the birds can clumb all around.

I'm gonna make this tomorrow: https://2img.net/h/i626.photobucket.com/albums/tt343/cheekyparrot/Toys/IMG_00202.jpg

All you do is tie short pieces of fleece around the metal hoops Smile

Gah, I make toys, and gave in earlier this month and ordered an Oddball(similar to an Atom) from Oliver's Garden as I don't have time to make my own fids things (they get their toys from the pre-made toy bins I now have to continually replenish), and Susan does a great job...

I was at another Avian crazy peep's place a few months ago and her Cape Parrot just adored it - the 12" seemed ok for our boys (Grey, Caique, Tiel), and I can see mainly Rosco playing on it and Merlin being freaked out by it. For $50 minus a sale discount...that was a pretty good deal for us Smile.

For those of you who make them - kudos to you! Do show your pics and your talent once they've been created!

I'm in the process of starting up my toy business as well, though everything I make will be "natural" in that there will be no plastics, mostly made of wood, hemp and recycled papers. Nothing I make will be over $10 because I know how expensive toys can be, especially since they are destroyed so quickly.

Margaret and GO, what are y'all using for the frame of those toys? I'd love to do something like that but have no idea what to use as a frame!

That's the part of this atom, I was searching for metal round frame for a long time, but everything was too expensive. And then one day it was sale in craft store: bingo 1 for $1. There was only 3 left, so I took them.
I'll keep in mind to pay attention in craft store and remember about you next time:)

So, I'm thinking the round bamboo rings that needlepointers use would work then. Those are cheap. Thanks for the WONDERFUL pics and suggestion.

Yes! Margaret, thank you! You've given me some wonderful ideas! There's a Hobby Lobby in the same parking lot as the store where I work! I should probably go in there sometime and look for something round, huh?

I think the only concern with inexpensive metal rings is to make sure they don't chew through the covering and start in on the ring, but I'd use the same caution with a purchased toy as well.
