| Some one asked about the Grey Cheeked on another forum, and i started looking around and very few at all.No babies and 1 pr breeder canary wing (200$) in SC.I emailed a vet in Tallahassee (Dr Remington) who breeds grey cheek and canary wing ,among other amazons/macaws. Does PDB still have hers? Are you breeding them? The best chance of finding them seems to be in SoCal. Luana Feigelstock breeds 6 species in LA,met her Roz ? I'm still researching but any info would be helpful.Grey Cheeks seem to be the only ones endangered other are still relative common in native habitat, which is disturbed jungle ,and do well near human settlements.I haven't found much on pet quality other than sweet ,talk, possibly loud. How's yours PDB ? Remind me of IRN type pet. | |

| They're loud in that they're about the size of a tiel but have a deep "loud" call. Weird to hear out of something so small. Compared to zons, conures, IRN's they're very "quiet". They don't vocalize very often.
At the last bird mart in Nov. There was someone with cages upon cages of canary wings. I have not seen a grey cheek in real life since the early 90's.

| That Luana Fiegelstock is in LA County she has them all. You mean you don't know her? I figured she like lived down the road from you. | |

| I actually haven't met too much of the local bird community! Just a few shop owners/breeders, really. I'm not too much of a club person, and the rescue I wrote to about volunteering never bothered to answer! So I don't know her either. I am useless. | |

You a hermit??? I bet everyone within a mile ,knows who the crazy Asian lady down the road is. Thanks! Unfortunately no one's contacted me about any conures lately. When I lived in the heart of San Diego, I had a bunch of animals including a 50 pound tortoise. He pushed down a fence and got out one day. I discovered him missing towards dusk when I went to go put him away. I walked half way down the block and heard something banging around the back of someone's pick up truck. It was my tortoise. The guy who owned the truck said he'd called the turtle/tortoise rescue as no one knew where the tortoise came from. All I could think was - Really? How far can a 50 pound rock walk that no one thought to ask the house 4 doors up with all the animals if it was theirs? It's not even like a dog that can wander several blocks within a few minutes.

| The tortoises here they tag/ring or put notches in certain plates, to ID them. A lot of my side line money is Gopher Tortoise relocation. | |

I just read up on Gopher Tortoises. How do you get them out of their monstrous holes in the ground? It (Wiki) said they could be almost ten feet deep and 45 feet long! That's amazing!
