| I swear Prince is set on seeing me end up in a psych ward. I can't put anything(food wise) in the cage without it being tossed to the floor. If I put it on a skewer then it's safe, but Mali really loves a mash with cooked vegies and sprouts, Prince loves them too, but for different reasons. I think part of the problem is he fails at holding things in his foot, so picks up a chunk and then it falls out of his mouth, apart for the times when it's just fun to pick up a berry or corn or whatever, lean over the edge of the bowl and chuck it. Is there a way around this? Or are we stuck with either vitamising or skewering food?? The feral himself: | |

| "Vitamising" isn't a word I'm familiar with, so if what I'm describing is what that word means, I'm sorry!
What I'll frequently do is cook everything, then put it in a food processor until everything is uniformly itty-bitty. This accomplishes two things... it keeps the birds from picking out their favorite foods and leaving what they don't like, plus it makes the food easier for the little guys to eat - and the ones who aren't as good at holding it.
At the store where I work, my boss makes this on a HUGE scale two or three times per week (she's the one who told me to do it in the first place). When we serve it there, even the Finches, Canaries and Doves chow down! They love it!
She's a GREAT birdie cook!
Edit: PS. That's a LOVELY bird!

That's what vitamising is, which they do like, but not as much as just being finely chopped, and Mali and Tim like to eat chunkier food. And he is gorgeous, just a terror, and then every now and then he comes over and spend half an hour kissing and singing and preening | |

| Were it me, I'd feed chunky to the birds who like chunky, then vitamise (?) or skewer everything for Prince. Either that or line the floor around his cage with a heavy matt and the walls with shower curtains! LOL! | |

| Ahh but see its not that simple, how flock live in the one cage, so it has to suit everyone. I'm thinking I might have a play with my new blender and see if I can mince it to a degree where there's still some chunky bits, maybe if the chunky bits are in wih some mash potato or something then he'll just eat them ... | |

| Scooter is very, very good about not actually tossing his food around too much. However, his favorite beak cleaning technique is the head-toss-fling. The wall usually reflects how much cherry, blackberry, raspberry etc I've fed... | |

| I'm in the looney bin with you. Food tossing makes me crazy. Our old G2 was a food tosser. Put a fresh bowl of food in there and she'd stick her face in and toss it all out. Most of you know I leave food in cages 24/7. The G2 was the only one I didn't. She'd stick her face in to toss and I'd remove the bowl - she obviously wan't hungry. When she was hungry she didn't toss. Crazy making bird. | |

| Our GCCs will stick their head in the pellets and throw their heads around searching for the perfect one, but Prince literally puts his head in the bowl, picks something out, leans over the edge and drops it | |
