| My Jack is making me eat healthier, I think. Or is it the reverse? I've gotten into the fruit smoothie thing every morning and of course, Jack gets one too.
I think we may have stumbled upon the next weight-loss fad. The Parrot diet.

| LOL. CB only goes crazy for pizza. Anything else, I have to force on him! And he very rarely gets pizza. | |

| I wish it worked that way! Yes I buy more veggies and we sometimes even eat them, too... but I'm finding it harder to make time to exercise and so forth since we got them. So I think it may be net factor in the not-so-healthy direction! | |

| Yeah but if you don't eat veggies, you'll likely end up with some serious health issues down the road. Pain = not fun. | |

| Poe is definitely making us eat healthier... I'm not gonna lie, I tried out his yogurt covered papaya, discovered I love papaya, and went out and bought some. And I only snack on "Poe friendly" foods because the little brat will steal food right out of my hand! I have learned to greatly appreciate unsweetened applesauce and plain Cheerios. | |

Plus they make one emotionally/mentally healthier (or crazier)

| Coconut oil is high in saturated fat, so I'd go easy on it as with any saturated fat. It's also frequently hydrogenated, so be careful what you buy! I think a few studies have been taken out of context and have been blown into a fad... it's unclear to me that coconut oil is a lot healthier than butter!
Basically any fat that is solid at room temperature, including lard and butter, are less healthy than oils that are liquid at room temperature.

| It's not peer-reviewed, even an M.D. can fall victim to wishful thinking... See http://www.snopes.com/medical/disease/coconutoil.asp When there is evidence (and why didn't she apply for a grant to study it instead of writing a book?) in a solid publication I'll take more notice. In the meantime, I think the fact that it is high in calories, essentially all from saturated fat, suggests it should be a minor component of the diet, along with butter and lard. Better than margarine! Not as good as olive oil. Oh, GO, you're not a zombie are you? They heart brains. | |

| LOL no!
Coconut oil does contain saturated fat but it's the good kind of SF with short/medium molecular chains that get absorbed and used quickly, meaning they're not built up in the system, no?
