- Okay... So I harbour many obsessions and interests. Some awesome. Some horribly quirky. I decided that to help everyone get to know me better, and to help me get to know them better I should lay it all out there, and hope that others will do the same! (I still see new threads and get nervous about what to post when everyone is involved in their own conversation up to when I come in and read it)...
I am a geek. Like all out-total-complete-in-over-my-head geek . I play Dungeons and Dragons. And Magic the Gathering. And my favourite way to interact socially with people is around a big card table playing some geeky game. OMG D&D FOR THE WIN. I need to get back into D&D, haven't played in years since back before I could actually follow the rules. Pokemon's the only card game I play that doesn't involve a regular 52 card deck. - Pretty_Poe wrote:

Also, coffee. - patdbunny wrote:

dusty I am so not into tatts. They are awesome and I admit I would want some, but I KNOW I will regret them later. And also I don't do the whole "pain" thing. Pierced ears are the only body modification for me. It might happen someday, but definitely no time soon... - Pretty_Poe wrote:

Coffee does nothing positive for me. I twitch like crazy, have the attention span of a gnat, can't really think straight and then I crash the entire day after. Which is too bad, because I would like to know why so many people worship the stupid drink.

| I wouldn't call any of my interests obsessions exactly. A major interest that is bordering on obsession at the moment is that I'm teaching an evening class at a local community college -- first teaching I've done in 20 years, and I'm putting a TON of time into preparing the course. I used to do some gaming (dire silverfish ROTFMAO) and briefly ran a D&D game. When I first moved to So Cal I hung out with the UCLA SF club and we did a lot of live role-playing games. Somewhere I think I still have the key to hell that I won in a Neil Gaiman based LRP. There used to be a rather incriminating picture of me floating around on the internet dressed as a Klingon. But it's been a while since I've had time for that stuff. Now the birds take up a lot of time. I do jewelry-making (http: www.jewelrybydeborah.com) but I haven't had much time lately and the website is really out of date. That's my main "hobby". I love to cook and I'm pretty good at it. I sometimes wish they allowed amateurs to compete on Chopped, but I'd no doubt cut my finger off or something. I even enjoy cooking dinner, but not every day. I used to write poetry. I still think about writing a novel now and then. Actually the Klingon picture is still up! Wish I were still this thin: | |

Which is too bad, because I would like to know why so many people worship the stupid drink. Coffee is my not so secret lover. Almost my mistress. I sometimes work half hour days. Sometimes I work 22 hour days. It depends. Could not survive without that lovely, delicious, steamy coffee. And I don't really get the "pain" thing with tattoos. They feel like cat scratches. Then sunburn when they heal. not so bad. I actually fell asleep during my ankle tat... And Deb, that is seriously one of the most awesome photos ever! The closest we've ever come to dressing up was combadges at the wedding (we also had the officiate say "Make it So" instead of "you may now kiss")...

| I don't have the patience to make a really good costume. I've always wanted to be the Borg Queen for something, but.... yeah. The closest we got was wearing combadges at the wedding (we also had the officiate say "Make it So" instead of "you may now kiss"). I do wear geek on me day in, day out and will for the rest of my life, though. Lets see if I can figure out photos to show back back tattoo.... | |

| I caught Husband playing Magic the Gathering at the dining room table when I came home from work the other day.
He was playing against himself. Beat himself one round, and was at a standstill the next round.
I'm obsessed with making bird toys, looking for parts, and checking my email.
There could be worse things to be obsessed with.

I will admit to having done this. When I build a new deck and just HAVE to test it out.... but it's a weekday and no one is around.

| Yesterday I was sitting on the bus, on my way home from school. This middle aged man walks on the bus. He is on the bigger side, and has this huge wolf hat. Like, it looked like a stuffed animal in which he stuck on his head. He had with him, two giant binders and one leather pouch thing filled with magic cards. He sat there smiling and flipping through the pages. At that moment, I realized, I will never be that cool.
Also, one of the friends I've met here is obsessed with yu-gi-oh cards. Like, I went to his apartment, and there were stacks upon stacks of the cards. Binders full of them. He puts up youtube videos of him playing them. He can spend hundreds of dollars on the cards.
But, I shouldn't judge. I've invested thousands of dollars on little flying pigs.
