| Id love to know the scoop. Looks plausible, feels funny. Initially I thought he was operating out of Africa -- a tiny profit margin could be serious money in local currency. But it's very unclear. Does anyone actually know anything? | |

| Ah. That explains a fair amount I think. Long shipping distance, but what seems like a pittance to us may be really good money to him. | |

Cameroon's average yearly income is something between $1,300 - $2,300 USD. $150 for a bird, especially if you're selling quite a few in a year, could provide a significant supplemental income.

| I know the Kenyan runners that win the big marathons are essentially set for life after one such win. Powerful motivation. | |

I read the Huffington Post a lot, and one of the commenters there was quite indignant about the amount of money paid to the survivors and victims of the shooting over there. The comment said essentially something like "giving them $50,000 sets them up for 50 lifetimes."

Reading the website, the address where they request payment sent to and the "contact us" form both state that these people are in Cameroon. The phone number, with country code +237, is also a Cameroon telephone number.

| You are right, but place, where is placed website online doesn't have to be the same as website local on computer. For example: I live in Chicago, my website is in whois database in Ohio or some other state (registar city) and imagine when I used to have my private website in Polish before; address was www.szara.com and it was all in Polish language. Then, when you gone to whois database it was pointing to Ohio Now, I still have one website in Polish and it's dedicated to help sick Marcin: http://www.pomoc-marcinowi.com(awful pictures in "Kacik Foto") Polish extension is .pl and I made those in universal .com I have to check who is database, just by curiosity | |

| WTF??
I'd like to see how many months it would take to ship one of those poor babies.
My goodness - I love how Western Union is preferred payment method.

| Honestly, I don't think were the domain is registered is as important as where the birds are coming from. I suspect that there aren't a lot of Cameroonian web merchants and far fewer individuals who can actually afford one.
Aside from that, a lot of websites that are .cm domains are actually viruses. More than half of .cm websites that McAfee tested were found to be participating in untoward behavior.
It's likely that if this person is running a legitimate business and successfully shipping birds so cheaply internationally, he would avoid using a domain that is often associated with malware and porn.

| Trust me Kay, unfortunately for customers, there is huge difference, where the domain/hosting is registered(in what country). Being volunteer in Polish internet anti-fraud organization( www.interpatrol.pl), I was shocked, how important it can be in case if you are cheated as a customer... Here is peace in English: http://www.interpatrol.pl/?ipatrol=100&p=14I made one intervention to close website on local host, case was in hands of Polish Police, website in Polish, but host in here... Finally they closed that page. Guy was cheating people on money. | |
