On watch and wait

As most of you know the "BIG PLAN" was to pack up parrots and parcel and move to Florida, unfortunately we forgot to tell the parrots...
as of this moment I am on egg watch, and the rest of my life is in Florida. The OWA pair Rod and Reel have 1 and I just say they laid a chick as none of their eggs have failed to date (we are blessed) The YN pair Sid and Sidney have 3 and looks like there is not to be a problem there. The DYH pair Trigger and Pedro have 4 and we are not as fortunate with fertility of their eggs but I hold my breath anyway. Our 3 little tiel babies are well on the way to wean and have fledged Stacie my rotten egg just loves this and hollers ooowwwwww at the first attempts

A little touch and go with the fires still burning and hoping now that the US Forestry Service has taken it over that the end is near any good thoughts and whispers are welcome.
So days of counting eggs and building the rest of the travel cages are in my immediate future Will be working on uploading some new pics

I totally want to see more pictures of the baby 'tiels. I love the baby 'tiels.

How long does it take the Amazon eggs to hatch?

Just saw the couple of pictures you put up in the gallery - so so cute!!! Maybe one day I'll find another Amazon to love, I miss my old guy. Too much noise for my neighborhood at the moment, though - I thought my YNs solos were wonderful, but I have a feeling the neighbors I have wouldnt'!!

The YN 28-29 days the OWA's 25-27 and the DYH 26-28 an just to note the Tiels take 19-21

the pics will be coming shortly have to figure out a way to keep the battery in the broken camera door ...today for sure
The first one is due to appear on the 31st or 1st the YN.

O boy, I wish you guys good luck in that situation. Birds on eggs and moving, I'll keep fingers crossed for all your flock!

End yes, after you'll settle down finally, we won't be patient, and will be pushy to make sure you share some pics and vids specially with Amazons and Tiels.

And now I'm going to Galley, I'm sure if I'll see at least one Amazon there, he/she will make my day

UPDATE Rod and Reel laid another chick
so just another couple of days in the mix no problems right

i need a incubator that plugs into the cig lighter in the truck

When I moved, I didn't have as many pairs as I do now. What I had didn't really get into the swing of breeding for the first year or so. I was so JONESING for babies! I was nabbing starlings out of nests and raising them.

I'm sure you could rig an incubator to run out of the lighter

Totally could. But unfortunately, my understanding is that parrot eggs don't take well to vibrations during the incubation process.

Tiel update...one feeding and an unholy mess as they feed themselves the rest of the time The first Zon (YN) should be making a grand appearence on the 31st or 1st you know I won't be able to shut up over that.. :bounce: .and yes the begging audio will be uploaded for all that need a "fix"

Can't wait for the babies!!! I keep grabbing my phone with every update notification to see if there are babies yet! LOL I know, I need to wait.

It seems that your parrots finally rush things, to be able to move. You have to whisper them something to motivate them. Good luck guys

Florida will be there when the babies are able to make the move. I am in no rush ....Nature is my clock and the time is always right.

To where in Florida are you moving?

Palmetto Fl it is almost split between Tampa and Sarasota on the Gulf side

That's a very cool thing! The next time I go visit my husband's family, perhaps I could come see you! It would be a nice change from ... well, you know! They live in Tampa and I'm always looking for something to do besides sitting at the house waiting on my hubby to get home from visiting with all of his old friends!

Getting to visit a NEW friend with birds might make the trip a little bit fun!

OH my you are so welcome I am a stranger in my own space noone seems to understand that the kitchen is sacred....that's it....the rest of the house is ours (the parrots and I).Bathrooms become sauna therapy for Zons LOL so if you don't mind they don't either

HOPING for this to be the last....NOT Rod and Reel the OWA's have laid their 3rd chick....getting itchy fingers to touch a little pin cushion

I can see a couple of large bags of hand feeding formula in my future.

and I can see you with "pirate parrot" on the way to Florida...
