A couple of people in the other forum really liked the idea of varied parrot species FAQ. I'd love to have people post FAQs about the bird they have the most experience with. All of these posts will be stickied to the top of the forum in the Parrot Species section.

I'll try to work on one for Amazons, just don't have lots of time right now.

Take your time. Whatever you can do would be great.

I'd be happy to give a go at Quakers, but there are probably members here with more experience.

I think you may be the only Quaker owner here. They're unfortunately illegal in a lot of states, including Pennsylvania and California.

That makes me sad. Juniper is absolutely amazing. If I had the time, money, and space I'd have a house full of them. She is the best bird I have ever had!

I would love to have a Quaker. They also seem so sweet and like lovely little birds. Unfortunately, common wisdom is that they are an invasive species that will decimate crops in a heart beat.

You can just go and post it in the Parrot Species section and I'll go sticky it so that it appears at the top of that board. I've already done one for GCCs, I'm working on one for budgies right now.

I'll do one for suns/jendays. I never ever considered myself an "expert" on them, but I guess I do have a lot of opinions about them. . .

Like I'm an eclectus expert?? This time tomorrow I'll have had one for less than a day Razz It's just FAQs, all it takes is a little research and good old fashioned copy-and-past plagiarism Wink jk... ferreal... plagiarism's not cool. All it takes is a little research and reasonably good paraphrasing skills Very Happy

I wrote mine with the help of google. The information's so general that there's really no need to credit. If you did credit, who'd you credit? The fifty sources that say the same thing? Pffft.

Exactly. With stuff this general honestly people are more worried about stylistic plagiarism. 50 people may say the same exact thing but maybe Roz said it on her blog with such linguistic eloquence and mastery of words that it was a sheer joy to read, so you copy and pasted it. Then someone finds it on your site and offers to publish it and you make money and Roz is left robbed and penniless.

Enter the paraphrase Very Happy

I don't like the antiseptic words used to describe the birds a lot of times. Like "loud". What the heck does that mean. Yeah, suns and jendays are "loud", but not as loud as a macaw. But a sun or jenday's single scream is a lot more likely to burst an aneurysm, so consult your physician before you get one.

Since Maroon Bellies are almost identical to GCC's, I'll maybe just review what is there suggest additions, if I think of any.

If you are going to write a FAQ, please post the title and put a placeholder in the body until your text is complete, that way we don't have people doubling efforts.

I'll record mine screaming so you can hear it. Its so loud sometimes that its almost digital... like you can hear sequencing in your head.

Shocked I'm very sensitive to certain noises. Macaws would probably be too much for me.

Also, our recruiting efforts have been suspended in the other forum. I, for one, have had my PM capabilities taken away. Anyone wanting to invite members, if you still can, go right ahead.

Thats because PMs aren't private to admins. He probably read all of them.
