PostSubject: A Minor Breakthrough   A Minor Breakthrough EmptyTue Jul 05, 2011 11:51 pm

Mickey the Red Lored seed junkie Smile started eating pellets A Minor Breakthrough 4014162036 A Minor Breakthrough 932634153 A Minor Breakthrough 3508084831 A Minor Breakthrough 397733214 I know to most this is a minor thing but he is over 30 and hasn't had a varied diet in all of those years. He started just getting a couple out of hte feeding scoop I stood and held it for at least 15 minutes. Then I would put my hand in and take out a few and put them in his dish. When he went to get some water I added quite a few more...let him know I was moving away and sat back to watch. Then he did it he started eating them out of his dish and went back for more many times. I have gotten him to eat quite a few things but NOT pellets. I have hopes that he will gain a little more weight and that will take a lot of worry off of me. YEA MICKEY

What a lucky day, even for "Mickey the Red Lored seed junkie" Very Happy
You must be very patient with her, we all know how "easy" it is to switch parrot for pellets.
Good luck!

PostSubject: NEW UPDATE   A Minor Breakthrough EmptyTue Jul 26, 2011 9:47 pm

Mickey is now a PIG for pellets. I have a product for the baby birds and it is also for recovering or underweight birds, I have been putting the recommended amount on his pellets and he dives in. Get this he ate some sprouts that Richard made and the sunflower seeds didn't sprout, I expected they would be the first to go but they were left untouched I couldn't have been happier. So here is a milestone report. Mickey came to us at a meager 365 grams and is now sitting at a much healthier 410 grams A Minor Breakthrough 4014162036 A Minor Breakthrough 2154879677

I know that the damage done to his organs won't be returned but I hope his later years will be more comfortable for him. He is such a joy and a killer outfielder Smile
