| A little Inspector go to visit cage bought yesterday for whole $60 from add on CraigList. And there is the results of inspection: Cage is not that young, but come on, for those money I brought a peace of dust, feathers and bottom looked like a one scramble egg. First I thought about Vinegar, but no, for that deep disinfection we(both, not with Chico, with boyfriend)used 96% Spiritus first, then something with oxi and then I left cage in the kitchen and spray it with Vinegar. In the morning I spray it again with Vinegar and washed again. Later I took Chico for a drive to the bank and short walk, and when I came back I felt like I'm coming in the house of vinegar-spiritus smell. Terrible. Forgive me, if I'm gonna write like insane person after that. Little Inspector had to see the cage from inside: Then later she checked how cool it would be to sit on open top: (The perch is temporary only for the picture) And on the end she had to make sure that inside is enough space: As a rezults of inspection: Total Height: 50" Length: 35" Deep: 21" Bar Spacing: 1 1/4 Slide-out tray Missing: slide-out grate(boyfriend have a job) Just sharing info with you. Chico didn't say much about results of her inspection What do you think?

| I let her go there to have something to compare. It has to be big, Amazons maybe look small, because of their short feathers on the end comparing to Macaws, but their beak is quiet impressive in size | |

| I know i'm just a worry wart but the 1 1/4 spacing for the cage bars is kind of large for a tiel. It might be dangerous for her to play there. IMO | |

| I didn't really thought about the other side of coin. We will have to be careful with a little ones, or make some kind of plexi-glass isolation on both sides, to make sure that strong 'zon beak won't reach little guys. Thanks for info! | |

| That was my thought... I'm sure that Captn Jose will be really safe inside and wont be able to get out, but Chico and the bandits will probably be able to get in too.... and that may not be such a good thing. The GOOD THING is that they've got you who will certainly get it all figured out in plenty of time! I'm so excited for you!!! | |

| This is OT, but we had a 21 foot sloop when I was a child and my father named it after one of the horses I rode for lessons -- "Happy Hobo".
There are two potential issues with the too-big bars I think. One is the big bird getting at the little bird. The other is the little bird potentially putting its head between and getting stuck. So you might want to be careful even before Captain Flounder arrives. | |

So far I didn't see any of my little go there(except for the pictures). But I do realize, that it's a matter of time. Budgies are too curious to not go there- specially, when cage will be with bird. Chico will follow them eventually. So I'm thinking plexi on one side and some other solution on the other sides. Maybe my boyfriend will make extra bars. I can't put plexi everywhere, because I want bird to bread fresh air. BTW: How long plexi will last with Amazon beak? If it will last at all - henpecked wrote:
