Unless you happen to have any of it growing in your new backyard! Did you realize that Dragonwood (Lyonia ferruginea (Walter) Nutt.) (a.k.a. Rusty Staggerbush), grows in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina? Yep, it sure does! Check it out! Rusty Staggerbush.usda.gov

| Well it looks like i can get you some,I don't know how quick but my brother does cut and clear areas that have it,and he will save us some. The problem is the big stuff is pretty rare 2" dia is rare and 3" dia is almost unheard of, but i think i can get you some, how small is too small what dia are you looking for, what lengths? How much? My brother says you can find it on the internet but it's pricey. There are people harvesting it and it's not protected or endangered but finding places where you can cut larger stuff is hard to come by.There is a state park that has some larger stuff on it and i will check it out ,just to see what it looks like and where it grows but i can't cut it. | |

| How much manzanita did you want? I have a dead manzanita tree in my yard. I've been scrounging off it for my own use. It's dead and sun bleached white (all the bark's been weathered off).
I "might" have a source for fresh cut manzanita. Again, how much did you want?

| To both of you,
What I've done is that I've built a stand for for my birds... it has a weighted base and the height is variable from about 3.5 ft to about 5 ft (ish). I currently have a 10" straight perch on these stands, and I've used them teach my birds flight recall and stuff like that... but what I'm WANTING to do is change out the perches into larger and more interesting types of wood and use them as perches for birds in a photography studio.
Ultimately, I'd like to have a selection of about 10-15 perches, some table perches and some interchangeable on a stand, that people could choose for their birds photos.
So I'd need some larger branches for larger birds and some that are much smaller for smaller birds. Length and weight aren't particularly important right now, I just want branches that are interesting. Maybe with a fork in them...
I know I can buy them resale, but I can't see them before I buy them, and I have control issues. LOL!
Ultimately I really want to make a business out of photographing people and their animals. But for now, I'm starting off with birds because that's what I've got and I find them relatively easy to do. (oddly enough!)
So, does that help?? | |
