An Amazon, for sure. But not a Yellow Nape. 213_0411

This is Bobby's brother's bird. I was told he was a Yellow Nape Amazon, then a Yellow Head. I'm pretty sure Bobby's just guessing and doesn't know for sure.

Aside from that fact that he's supposed to be the devil in bird form, I think he looks sweet. There's another picture in my gallery, along with two new ones of my guys.

I don't normally like Amazons, and even I think he's cute.

Looks like a Magna Double Yellow Head to me,or possible Tres Maria, both species along with DYHs were imported /smuggled into Ca, Most Magna breeders are found in Ca. Magnas are found in Mexico more northern of DYH sub-species.I'd love to have it for a breeder not too many around here. Magnas are usually larger than Tres marias.Niether breed well in captivity.

He could've been smuggled, but I have no idea. Bobby's brother found him in Southern California 40ish years ago. Fed the bird a mash of food half expecting it to die, and he's been around ever since.

For what it's worth... Imperial Valley, California is right on the border of Mexico. The bird's parents could've laid eggs and he fell out of the nest. But really, they don't know anything other than he's el diablo.
