The first 4 sets of large pairs were transported last night and placed in the house until we have the garage secured. They got in at 3am so everyone is tired. Its going to be a long weekend...

What was the rescue reason? They look to be in fairly good shape from what I can gleen from the photo.

Reasons range from unemployment, death, illness, new baby in the house to just being unwanted. Its different for all of them. The reason most of them look so good is because we work with them and rehab them. A lot of them do not look that good when we get them... unfortunately. We really pride ourselves on making sure the birds are in a good mindset before we'll consider adopting them out.

Dusty, we hear that a lot, LOL. I will admit that aside from the few nasty ones that we do have, we do have some really sweet beautiful birds and its a shame that they were surrendered. I won't say I am sad for them because honestly, they have it good with us while they are here. We buy quality food, feed them veg and fruit (which some of them have never seen before) give them attention and love (again, sad, but some are unaccustomed to that too) and get them vet care where needed. I am sure some of them are loathe to leave us when adopters finally pick them. But we do make sure their new homes are just as loving and able as we are before we let them go. And ufortunately for you, we don't adopt out multiples unless they are already paired. We have strict policy about that.

What pretty birdies.

Also, their carriers look to be the size of my actual cages, LOL.

The guys are working to get the large cages set up this morning so we can get them out of the carriers. We're doing it in steps, birds aren't moving unless a cage goes with them in another car so we have something to put them in when they arrive. These didn't get in til 3am so I'm sure building a cage while half asleep wasn't an option. I feel bad that I have to work, otherwise I'd be with them helping right now. I did donate my truck for the day, so in a way I am being helpful. Smile
