| so when do your birds go to sleep? do you have a specific time when everybody goes to bed or do they go to bed when it's convenient? other comments.. about the poll- you can check multiple options if need be. I probably could of come up with better answers to choose from just curious about when everybodies birds go to bed. I don't have any set time to put rainbow in her cage at night, she'll let me know when she's ready to go to bed if need be(usually 9 or 10pm). Also curious about when your birds get up compared to when you put them to bed | |

| I turn the lights off at 10, and in between 10 and 11 we all fall asleep.
They get up when I wake them. Weekdays it's between 6 and 7, and weekends it's between 7 and 9.

| I clicked on 7pm and 8pm, depending on when that part of the house settles down. |

| When we go to bed, usually, which is between 10 and 11 most nights. Although if I'm thinking about it, I'll put them to bed an hour or two earlier. I feel that I should. Since they are in the office room (a spare bedroom) they are usually getting quiet time from about 8 PM onwards anyway, and Scotty is usually dozing then. I go in and sing a lullaby when we''re getting ready to retire for the night, pick up the sprout dishes, turn the light off and close the door.
They get up when we get up, usually around 8:30. If I happen to be up earlier, I try not to wake them up, but once they hear me moving around, they usually do rouse, unless it is VERY early (like 4:30 and I'm going to the airport).

| I checked at sunset and whenever I go to sleep. The cockatiels will stay up with me however late I want to stay awake, although Sam gets really talkative the later it gets if I haven't turned the lights off. Ducky goes to bed as soon as the sun sets, and sometimes before the sun's completely gone, whether I'm still up or not. Since he gets mad at me if I leave the light on and they all share a cage the usual is sunset for all three of them. | |

| We're night owls at our house, so Yoshi's usually out and about until at least 10ish. If we're down watching a movie and he's falling asleep sometimes I'll put him away and throw a light sheet over him 'cause I feel like a bad mom keeping him up so late | |

Scooter is really funny some nights, particularly the ones where we go to bed later. All will be quiet until I go in to "sing", and then he gets all kind of intese, while Scotty just sits on his perch looking at me quietly. I'll do my little song, and on some days he will dive right into his hut for sleep. But more often he starts a plaintive scree-scree calling and he'll keep it up until I turn out the light and shut the door, and then it kind of fades out and all is silent for the night. Reminds me of a little kid throwing a tantrum, "Moooommm, but I'm NOT tired..." and then falling asleep as soon as he is put down on the bed.

| I usually put Frosty to bed around 7pm right now. That is when he seems to reduce his activities. I do cover him up with a lightweight cover, put him in a quiet room and then he goes to sleep when he is ready. I have read that birds need around 10 or so hours of sleep to remain healthy but that sure is hard to do in the Summer when the days are longer. I noticed when I first got Frosty that he slept a lot during the day but after I put him on a different schedule he doesn't seem as sleepy during the day....he only takes a couple cat naps but is mostly active. So I am wondering if that is because he gets a better nights sleep on his new schedule. I find the poll results quite interesting...I am surprised there is so much variance in bedtimes. | |

| Sammy isnt in bed until she throws a fit or acts up. We usually have her down for bed no later than midnight, but usually shes in bed by 10pm. She doesnt get up until 10am in the morning because shes lazy like me and sleeps until she hears me get up for work. | |

| I am surprised by the variance in bedtimes. My experience with Jack is that the moment there is any activity in the house. He's awake! And YOU must be awake too! And he wont stop calling for you until you ARE awake and have fed him!
and if there isn't any activity; you must wake up with the sun. JUST like he does. He wont sleep unless there is darkness. He usually wakes me up at 6 am every day unless I'm napping in another room where i can't hear him

He usually wakes me up at 6 am every day unless I'm napping in another room where i can't hear him I wonder how much it is correlated to room location and window treatment, as well as the soundness of sleep in the human occupants. I used to be able to sleep through ANYTHING although I've outgrown that to some extent. The office room, where the birdcages are, is on the west side of the house, with one west facing window and the backyard is well shaded. In addition we have blinds on the window and close them at night. We don't cover the cages and there are various electronics lights on in there so it isn't perfectly dark. But both birds also spent time in a store situation where they were exposed to some ambient light at night and were more or less bound by store opening and closing routines.

| I know now that a lot depends from where your birds are. Before cages was in area called dining room, behind my comp. desk. I stay late at night often, so birds didn't sleep or didn't want to sleep. Even monitor light made Mango sing. Since they're in they own room, they go sleep like angels. When it's getting dark, like they supposed to. Well, not always in their own cages, but at least they don't sing in the middle of the night | |

| Mine are usually bedded down between 11 PM and midnight although there's times they go to bed a little earlier than 11 or a little later than midnight. | |

| Aries likes to go to bed as the sun is setting. If we've gotten up late that morning he'll stay up a little later, but generally he'll let you know that it's time to go to bed for him. He'll start making a fuss and the minute you ask him if it's bed time, he quiets down. Does the same for nap time too | |
