| Why wouldn't it be? I was planning to! If you have fruits and veggies the shelf life with be shorter at room temperature, but that's the only thing I can think of. Well, very acidic add-ins might mess with the leavening. But otherwise, I'd say add away, just like any quick bread recipe. | |

| He wont try it!
I baked them with grated carrot, and pumpkin seeds (he likes both) and offered him some. He looked at it, then nipped my finger as if to say "take it away mum!" He does this every time I offer it to him, although occasionally he will lick it. THEN bite me.
I can't figure it out. He'll eat any other random thing I put on his cage. But nothing that is actually made for birds.

| How about pretending to eat it in front of him?
Jealousy is a powerful thing.

| You can try crumbling the birdie bread and present it that way, or cube it small cubes, different ways of presentation sometimes gets them to try something. Or maybe he just doesn't like the Harrison's. When I got the Harrisons samples my birds weren't crazy about them and they eat pretty much everything.
Here's a modified carrot cake without the frosting that you can also eat and try to tempt him with:
4 eggs 3 cups grated carrots (or you can do 2 cups carrots, 1 cup apple for added sweetness) 1 1/4 cups vegetable oil 1 cup chopped pecans (optional) 1 cups sugar (or eliminate the sugar) 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 2 cups wheat flour 2 teaspoons baking soda 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees; Grease & flour 9x13 pan - In large bowl beat together eggs, oil, sugar, vanilla. Mix in flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon. Stir in carrots. Fold in pecans. Pour into pan. - Bake 40-50 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

| You can sub applesauce for some of the oil if you want it leaner. | |

| tried 'pretending' to eat it myself. He doesn't care.
Also stuffed it full of sunflower seeds. waiting to see the results of that.
Isn't Harrisons suppose to be the almighty/best parrot food? And the Fids don't like it?!

| Scotty won't eat the Harrisons either. I think in his case it's the texture/size/density. He seems to prefer the more Cheeto-like extruded foods. Scooter never met a pellet he liked, so he's not a very good data point. | |

| ScooterNScotty - have you tried removing all the food in the cage at bedtime and just leaving some Harrisons for "Midnight snacks"? | |
