Well Rocky is one lucky bird... but how does this deer thing work? You hunt it, Josie cleans it? Not sure I'd go for that deal! Roz

Damn if I would clean a deer, or anything else like that. Josie is a far, far better woman then I. Treat her good Capt!

Rocky

Roaches

it was so disgusting you have no idea, He came here complete with a FULL tray of nasty moldy waste and food his food dish was disgusting and molded there was water in the dish that I was happy to toss out and finished the transport home. Unfortunately what i missed at pick up was the hundreds of baby roaches in the cage and all over it at the seams if the wire. I hadn't planned on doing more than clean his tray and dishes until I saw those and BOY as fast as he came in he went out. I got another travel cage and dishes sand got him into that as a temp spot until I get a moment to put him in a perm cage. No darn wonder the bird is a mad bird I would be too.

Ugh. Those scuttling creatures are one reason I'm not as enthusiastic as I might be about relocating in your new neighborhood. I'm going too have nightmares now ok.I'm just glad he's freed from them I, too, would be loopy.

Rocky #1, Rocky the BFA is thirty ,he spent 15 yrs with his first owners who bought him in NJ , he's a wild caught baby who went through USDA quarantine in Calf. So he is a survivor because lots of babies don't live though USDA quarantine. The lady we got him from lives here in Fla. and has had him for 15 yrs also, she says he speaks spanish but all i've got him to do is whistle. It looks as if he's been in his old cage for a long time ,it was pretty nasty and very rusty, matter of fact it went straight to the burn barrel. Rocky has some issues, the lady said she can't handle him and i'm sure he's rarely if ever been out of his cage til now.He have him in a temp travel cage for now while he's in quarantine. He's upstairs away from the rest of the flock but while out on the porch awaiting his temp cage he seemed very interested in conversing with the breeder birds in the outside aviary. He's a little jumpy when the dogs bark and seems concerned when they come near his cage so we are trying to keep all that to a minimum. His temp cage is out of the main action and we're giving him a little space to calm down. Yesterday and today i've been hand feeding him peanuts and today he is taking them much more gently than he did at first. He seems to be OK with me talking to him and being near but strikes out when i go to leave. So we're working on not leaving when he does this ,i don't want him to think that he's driving us away with this action and want to end our visits on a positive note.We will give him a new and larger cage in the next few days and change it again in the coming weeks to get him out of his comfort zone and work on the cage aggression thing. My plan is to have him out and clipped by the end of his quarantine. We will keep any one who's interested informed of his/our progress.
PS i got Josie to get a new box of band-aids ,i feel i might need them.

I definitely want to hear how he comes along! It's always interesting to hear how you genuinely experienced folks tackle a problem and how it works out.

love those BFAs! Smile only parrot species so far that I've gotten a scar from. I hope being in a clean cage cheers Rocky up, he seems like a tough guy to make it through so much already. Give him a treat for me!

Definitely, hat's off to the Capt. I hate dealing/don't deal well with "problem" birds. . . except 2's. For some reason I've done pretty well w/ "problem" 2's. Then again, I don't think I've really dealt w/ one that was bent on truly trying to kill me.
