Can't keep hummingbirds, but honeycreepers come a close second:

Basically someone was inquiring as to the legalities of owning hummers somewhere else. I thought I'd mention here that there are options. Just hard to find these little gems, especially in the US after importation stopped. I've been coveting a lot of different birds for a long time. No real hope in ever acquiring any anytime soon. I just don't have the talent to keep those types of birds.

I suppose one could get in good with some zoos and obtain them that way.
