| Sam is the most beautiful Amazon I've ever seen. I love him. He lives in a little cage at the store because im told he's a bipolar 'zon. He fights with all the other birds and bites everyone he's ever met. When I come to see him, he leans his head down, puffs his head feathers, and clamps his beak on the cage bar for me to scratch it. I do, then i rub his nose, cheeks and ears, and scritch as much of his neck as I can reach. I see his beak and I'm scared to death of it, especially after what I've been told about him, but I know that one of these days I'm going to want to open his cage and see if "they" are right and I'm being egotistical in thinking that I'm different, or if I'm right and he's starting to like me just a little bit. But honest to goodness, that beak just scares me to death!! I have visions of it filleting my hand open, and that just doesn't appeal at ALL. Oh well, someday I hope I'll know when the time is right to go one on one with San The Man. In the meantime, we'll have to content ourselves with our prison relationship. | |

| I doubt I'm the one, but it's a nice fantasy to imagine the "evil bird" has decided to love me out of all others... | |

| You've got me thinking about seeing if the bird store down in NoHo wants a part time employee! I am feeling as if extra experience with more birds would be a good thing. You are sure meeting a lot of characters! | |

| I tell you how pretty this bird is... the pictures don't even begin to show it - he wasn't really excited by my phone's eye looking at him. The feathers on the top of his head are so fine that most of the time he looks furry rather than feathery. He's really a sight to behold.
And Deb, I say go for it sister. It really is an amazing experience being able to freely meet and interact with all these birds. I'm learning SOOOO much!

Uh-oh...Zaza likes the bad boys..erm...birds! Zons' don't like me too much - not sure why. I raised enough of them, but once they stopped hand feeding it was "ignore & give dirty looks to the Crystal" time.

| Funny you should resurrect Sam's thread today! LOL!
I was telling my hubs last night that I'm feeling very satisfied... very content... with our flock right now. It feels very "right" to me. In other words, I don't feel like there's anything missing - which is how I've felt for a long time. I told him that the only other addition I would even CONSIDER making at this point would be Sam, and that would be a huge decision for me. He would be a big change and would majorly alter the dynamics in our house. He asked me who Sam was and I showed him the pictures on here. LOL - he said Sam looked conceited, haha!
Who knows? Maybe one day I'll get Sam, maybe I wont. But right now isn't the time. I really know that - regardless of how much I love him. (And maybe I know it because he's meant for someone else? Who knows?) In the meantime, my little flock is perfect the way it is right now.
