Green Cheek Conures - does yours preen everything?

Hi all you GCC people... I have a question for you...

I noticed that JJ LOVED to preen anything she could get her beak on. Whenever I was preening Bucky, she would be waiting in the wings for him to relax enough for her to climb down my arm so she could get in on the action, and my eyebrows and cuticles were always pristine.

Then I get Miss Allie and I start noticing the same thing. She's a preening fool! I put her in the playpen with the babies at work and she starts preening them, then we come home and she preens Ella!

It's like these little girls are OCD preeners - and they don't care who or what they're preening... as long as they're preening SOMETHING!

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar with their GCCs? Are they crazy for pins too? The curiosity is killing me!

The preening is a social thing , many do it to be accepted into the flock. Younger birds will preen anybody to be accepted.

my boy preens me sometimes. but not to that extreme

My hen Jake just reminded me this AM, she preens me like a mad man when she wants her "lovin".

Scooter not so much. He likes shredding stuff, but preening humans and objects is not high on his list. I think it's too sedendtary, he'd rather be throwing stuff on the floor or chewing on something he shouldn't.

Speaking of throwing stuff on the floor, we discovered if you set up a line of wiffle balls ontop of our cage, Tika goes nuts pushing them all off, but of you leave one side of the roof off, she aims for Rory! She genuinely stops throwing them onto the ground and picks them up, carrys them over top of him and drops them on his head. What the hells With that??

Sparrow preened Sushi like a mad man! He doesn't so much me anymore, he used to. He isn't much of a shredder either. He isn't really crazy about many of his toys either. He is pretty chill/mellow.

I laughed so hard I cried a little at this because this is Poe to a T.

Does Scooter also have a habit of "honking"? Poe honks when he's playing. He chases the bell ball, honks at it, grabs it, TOSSES IT AWAY, and runs the opposite direction.... honking.

On occasion, he'll preen the hubby's face. But never me. No. No.... I am a playplace. Visiting me is akin to Disneyland, I think. I feel so used

Merlin does this if I let the stubble go for a few days, and occasionally goes after the beard if it is bugging him. Thankfully he seems to leave the moustache alone!
