Hello To All

Not quite sure how I found this forum but here I am! Very Happy

I am recently retired and have just one little Budgie I named "Frosty". A neighbor gave her to me a few months ago because they were moving. I offered to take her since I have more time now that I am retired. Funny how that worked out as I was thinking of getting some birds. I had Budgies some years ago when I was younger and missed having them. So ready or not...I guess I am a bird owner again! wee

Frosty is a sweet bird but not hand tamed. I am hoping I can tame her up so she can enjoy being out of the cage more. I notice she seems to have feet problems as they bow out some. I wonder if it is due to poor breeding? In any case I love her just the same. I am not perfect either! Laughing

I have budgies, too. They're not really hand tamed but I do keep them out of the cage most of the day. They go back to the cage to sleep at 7 p.m. on the dot.

You budgie looks exactly like my Bonnie.

When you received the budgie, what kind of perches did she have in the cage? Were they all wooden dowels? Or were they all similar in shape? If a bird spends their entire lives on the same type of perch, it can seriously damage their feet.

Maybe you could take her to the vet?

When I got Frosty she was in a small cage with one plastic perch and one wooden dowel perch. In her new cage I have several different sized perches....some manzanita and some natural willow branches from my land. I inspected her feet and there are no sores or anything like that, they look nice and healthy. It is just when she sits in a relaxed position she seems to bow out her feet. Otherwise when she is moving around and climbing she uses her feet normally. Maybe she has weak ankles just like me! Laughing
