I got up early yesterday, for the first day of the new semester. I heard the bell ringing, so I checked to see who was up before dawn.
I was shocked to see Bonnie in the act! My first reaction was to grab a my phone. Since then, I've caught her a couple more times.
She's also been really friendly and tame with me lately. Flying to me, accepting cuddles, and crying for me. Is there any relation?

Yes, very likely there's a correlation, especially if you're "cuddly" with her. They generally don't have anyone on their backs/around their bodies except for during the "act".

I thought Bonnie was acting like a male too.

To be honest, I'm confused, but I still think Bonie is a female. The care color is like female, or it's lighting.
Zaza, you haven't observed any flock dynamic changed after you added Madoc? Perhaps Clyde playing more with Madoc? Those little diablos really can change behavior after new member is in the flock...
I'm sticking with Bonnie being a hen. I think the tail down position in that vid is related to her position during the "copulatory activity." Had she been on a stable perch I think you'd have seen the expected tail position.
Further, I agree that the cuddling likely has an effect on her increased hormonal activity. Other things to look at are any dietary and or environmental changes that might have contributed to it.

I'm 100% sure she is female. I mean, her cere does the typical "crusty" look.
There has been a change in dynamics. Madoc and Clyde have been VERY buddy-buddy.

Is it possible to speed up Spice coming? That's what she needs, a pair and it doesn't matter male or female. (If budgie can find an amazon as a friend)
