| A friend of mine on a horse forum posted this news story. My friend Gaile actually had some business dealings with this woman, fortunately not involving equine rehomes. I'm not big on shock value, but if you want you put your hair on end, read the Affidavit linked to the bottom of the story. I wondered at first if she was in dire financial straights, but about halfway through came to the conclusion the key needs to be thrown away on this one. I'm posting it because it is such an extreme case. This woman is an accomplished rider and has a daughter on the show circuit. They were generally considered good horsewomen in the local equestrian community. At least parrots have no market value dead... if you consider surrendering any animal to a rescue, check it out, insist on a contract, don't just go by local reputation. I'm actually not inherently anti-slaughter, but I'm sure anti cruel deception. | |
