| Hey everyone! I am Wishing I had two Finches. If I had a choice I would get one male and one female Zebra Finch. I already have a cage in my house that I could use for them, because I bought Pete another one.
What are you comments about finches? I know that they like to bathe and that they need constantly clean water. I also know that they are not very social birds, enless babies and trained to be nice. What are your comments about this type of "parrot"?

| Aside from the fact that they're not parrots , finch are fun. They're not particularly interactive little creatures, but they're fun to watch - especially when they get their clean water!!! | |

| I say, get two of the same gender. I hear they can be quite the proficient reproducers. | |

| Yes, finches mate like bunnies. We used to have a small cage with maybe 20 rescues in it and now we have a large flight cage with maybe 50. I believe there are ways to reduce their urge, but it is hard to stop entirely. They are very cute though. | |

| Get a pair of english zebras. They're no where near as prolific as American Zebras. They're going to be about $50/pair at the bird stores. Keep your eye out on CL and you can probably pick them up for about $20/pair. English zebras are almost twice as big as Americans. And if you can find Germans - those are HUGE. But the Germans can get aggressive. Aggression's a pain in the neck to deal with. So, ultimately, my suggestion is get a pair of english zebras. Contact the NFSS: http://www.nfss.org/We have some very reputable/notable breeders in San Diego who can probably hook you up. | |

| Oh - finches are SUPER easy to train to use a hamster bottle. That will help you IMMENSELY in keeping them with fresh clean water.
Basically, they're super curious and will almost immediately go play with the ball on the water bottle and figure out it's water.
