So how is everyone?

I'm, what, four months into my new job. I am so swamped.

But otherwise doing groovy.

Things are good here in the Great White North. Not so white right now, hot and humid instead.

I am on vacation from work right now, spending quiet, uneventful days at home, making noise whenever I can (aka guitar lessons and practice).

Taking a small trip next week with the family, so we can say we did something for vacation.

Things have been kinda quiet in Paradise the last few weeks. I was starting to worry about some of you (okay all of you).

I've been having a bit of a rough time, between impending job loss and fighting with husband's insurance company, but things are looking up a bit at the moment. I have an interview for a full time teaching position at LA City College on Monday and Bill's surgeon has basically said we'll find a way to get him what he needs if I fail all the appeal routes. We're at the second appeal to the insurance company.

The flock is doing just fine. Scooter has been super-affectionate. I don't know if it was the move, the end of the "terrible twos" or the fact that I haven't traveled in a while, but my biggest problem with him now is velcro-bird syndrome. that and he's figured out how to pry the keys off this keyboard.

Scotty has finally settled in, I think, and seems pretty happy. I need to get him more attention. He's actually the least demanding in many ways of the three.

Blanco is total sponge bird and just wants to be on my shoulder getting head rubs and beak rubs all the time. He's taken to flying to me when he gets tired of waiting, or jumping on me when I'm doing stuff in his cage.

Good to get updates from everybody!

55 and "what's sex?",,,,, spending way too many days in the ocean. Just brought the boat "home" last night from over in Ala. So maybe things will improve. Fishing has been killer, lots of huge tuna and Marlin,(sick of raw tuna,4 days a week, mercury levels must be off the chart). Glad summer is winding down , ready to go hunting. Birds are all good , need to find homes for a few rescues (anyone want a zon).

This past couple weeks have been a bit stressful.

Me and my family are all in Calgary. My grandfather was diagnosed with lung cancer, and he just had two major strokes. He's in a hospice right now, and we are trying to make his passing as comfortable as possible.

Thankfully I found someone to feed the birds while I'm gone, and work has told been great, no issues with me being gone.

I'm very sorry to hear that Alyssa. I'll be thinking of you.

We've been busy enjoying down time this summer (aside from our normal Clark Kent Day jobs), helping out with our local parrot sanctuary, and just enjoying our "family time" while we can.

The pups have been good - and Fynn's "fun rescue puppy" issues are slowly getting resolved.

Rosco is in trust mode again (yay happy Caique), Stryder is in "I want to shower every day" mode, and Merlin is in "chase down Husband throughout the house until he loves me back aka Stalker" mode
