| We've been to two county fairs and both times nearly left with bantam chicks. We want to get layers but we have so much going on right now at the rescue. We need to get a coop and things settled first. I do love the goofy looking ones that look like muppets with big pom poms on top of their heads, but I am told we'll probably end up with bantams and guinea hens. | |

| I want chickens too - but we can't have them in the city limits. So until I can talk my hubs into moving... or we win the lottery that we don't buy tickets for... there's no chickens for us. | |

Are you sure? There are urban chicken initiatives all over the country, it turns out! Hens only, usually, no roosters.

| Yeah. They're allowed in Denver but not in Aurora. They've tried to pass it but it keeps getting defeated for some reason. Denver allows chickens and a goat or two... it's one of the few reason's I'd like to move to Denver. | |

| Bummer! We're zoned A-2 at the new house, which is heavy ag, but the HOA has some interesting wording in the CC&Rs that appears to impose some restrictions. I think it's meant to prevent commercial activity or small zoos, so I'm pretty sure a handful of hens on our acre and a quarter is unlikely to cause an issue unless I don't take care of the coop.
The CC&Rs also appear to forbid parking cars outside the garage, and that's clearly not enforced. If there wasn't a private road to maintain, I suspect the HOA would have voted itself out of existence by now.

| I guess we're zoned, "on your own". Within 1/4 mile we have horses, goats, emus, chickens and all sorts of wildlife. The roosters aren't as bad about noise since the "chicken killin" when we did 17 roosters . Things are so much calmer with only 2 bantam roos and one big one. Of course i did hear the tom turkey trying to "gobble" the other day, LOL | |
