| So first here is a picture of "amores": yes Lucky and Chico (they do it to each other for a while and I don't know WHAT I was thinking before) I told joke here a long time ago that jealous Chico will see my budgie egg and look at Lucky and will make egg for him - it was joke and it became REAL! Yeah, laugh now You all know I never cared about breeding, so now will be all the questions I thought I would never ask... Starting from simple, but for me unknown. Okay I know that if different species of parrots cross breed, and their genetics are far from each other, then the egg won't be fertile. I also know that for females laying eggs is dangerous, they have to have special rich diet, calcium etc. And the question is: what do I do now? Separate them? Just to reminder that all of my Monsters are living happy in one inside aviary - we bought them new one. Lucky likes all of our birds and he loves Chico. If I separate them now, Chico will be fine having so many bird and human friends, but Lucky will go crazy: screaming, biting, etc. Should I continue that crazy love with all the consequences or separate Lucky and make him unhappy for everybody best? I don't know the answer. Counting on you guys with your thoughts. | |

| I'd leave them to gether, IMO. Chico shouldn't lay eggs very often if she doesn't have a good place. i don't think you have to worry about cockazons. | |

Thanks Capt., Separate Lucky from rest of our crew would be the last thing I want to do and only if I really, really have to. He is happy with his little fellows and he protects them like a wolf! Thanks for advice!

| Heya Margaret! Agree w/ the Capt. Leave them alone. Doubt they'll do anything serious. Just don't give them anything that looks like a nesting site; remove anything that starts being a nesting site.
Although cockazons would be pretty cool. . .
BTW - they are adorable together.

| Okay, update time. Last time Chico left me surprise- 5 eggs. Each one in 2 days distance. "The best friends" stopped for about 2 weeks or so, and today I saw already Chico at the bottom of aviary searching for a perfect spot and Lucky with her, defending her. The Lucky-Monster jumped from the floor and bite my ear to make me stay away from them. I don't know what,s worst place to bite: lips or ears He never touches other birds, knock, knock | |

| Lucky is in the separate cage. I don't know if this will help him, but he became so jealous about Chico and food, that he was aggressive to other birds. Nothing serious happened - thank goodness! He can spend time with his feathered friends now under our supervision. Lucky's cage is next to little's aviary, so they can see/hear/watch/contact each other - I know it's not the same | |

| Yeah, male zons can get pretty aggressive about their nesting area/mate. I would think it's a short lived thing and should go away after spring. of course him and chico will still be mates. | |

It's like an elephant find a mate with zebra Okay, update It's hard to say, because it's not long, but Lucky is behaving and little ones too. I'm watching specially Lucky closer, I don't want him to start pulling feathers or anything like that. I know he misses Chico, but she immediately stopped with eggs. They're insane and I love them!

| I'd definitely have done the same thing! I'm sure he'll be OK, but I know you'll keep a close eye on him! | |
