| Cheney Bird has decided he no longer wants to eat fresh foods. The budgies have never bothered with fresh foods. Is it particularly bad to give up on the fresh foods for right now and give them just baby food? They'll eat the baby food in place of the exact same thing that's just cut up. For instance, they'll eat baby food sweet potatoes but not cut up and cooked sweet potatoes.
So, baby food bad? Good? Doesn't really matter?

| I don't see where it'll be "bad" for them. Perhaps not as ideal as fresh foods since I think the cooking/processing destroys nutrients. But if they won't eat anything else, it's a lot better than just seed. It's a do what you have to do kinda situation. Maybe since they like the baby food you can use the food processor and mince up fresh veggies/fruits and put a small bit mixed into the baby food? | |

| Yeah, I thought about the food processor idea, but I don't have one of them. And a 45 cent jar of baby food is cheaper than the food processor right now.
I think he likes the fact that I spoon feed him the baby food, too. With the fresh stuff, I give it to them in their food dishes in the cages.

| If you get low-sodium baby food the only major dowside I can see is that it is cooked and high moisture, so you probably can't leave it out very long before it spoils. You might try grating or finely chopping up fresh food and mixing it in with the baby food. | |

I've gotten the stuff that's just the main ingredient and water, so I'm not sure sodium would even be a problem. I also don't leave it out because he won't eat it if it's mixed in with the pellets or seeds. He'll only eat it if it's off of a spoon that I'm holding. I'll definitely try grating or finely chopping stuff up for him, though. I'm just not sure why all of a sudden he's decided he doesn't like stuff he used to like.

Budgies bad influence I'm kidding, but whatever Mango start/stop doing, sooner or later all of my birds follow.
