| Okay so my boyfriend came into my room from outside and he had a spider hanging from his hair, going down to his shoulder! I freaked out and told him not to come near me, and what does he do? He starts walking towards me all like..what ? I scream and tell him that theres a spider on him and hes like "Okay kill it? I cant see where it is." All calm and stuff. Well I am freaking out. Then the spider crawls onto his back and I tell him to turn around. I pick up my closest book, Birds for dummies , and kill the spider ! So I saved his life, sort of | |

| When I was little, I went to a museum. There was an exhibit on spiders. There was this one plastic thing with a fake toilet seat and a fake black widow spider.
For the longest time I believed there were colonies of black widows living inside every toilet, waiting for the perfect moment to strike,
Also, once there was this giant spider, and it like leaped onto my desk. I squished it with a text book, and I ended up getting squished spider all over the essay that was due the next day. It was pretty nasty.

| I think it's extremely cruel to do that, I can't do it. I pick it up and take it outside. | |

Thats pretty much how it happened! Birds for dummies is a big book! At least the older one it. I have both. I am addicted haha. - zazanomore wrote:

| That reminds me of when I took photography in high school. I was using an enlager and it was dark... Well when I walked out of the developing room everyone was staring at me and I couldnt figure out why. Turns out I had a tarantula on my shoulder that crawled off the machine I was using. Everyone was freaking out and all I did was walk outside and put him in a bush | |

I used to have a tarantula named Morticia. I had a pair of hissing cockroaches until they had baby hissing roaches. Baby hissing roaches scurry like normal roaches. . . that made me scream and I sprayed Raid in the terrarium they were in. I had an orchid mantis named Tiger Lily - she was REALLY cool - for a bug. - zazanomore wrote:

Actually, we have them around our place. Sometimes one gets into the laundry. Then we have to pick tarantula parts off the clothes.

Oh man! Thats insane!! The funny this in when I was super little, till I was 10, I loved bugs. Loved them! I would take out my barbies and bring in bugs from outside and put them in my doll house and name them all. Mostly snails. And when I was 7 I built a house out of clay and painted it blue and put a cockroach that was missing a leg and I nursed it back to health. And I had a bug encyclopedia and I would carry it around everywhere!

| is this a bad thread to mention that I really want a tarantula? I've gotten over my bug fears. As long as it isn't a yellow jacket or wasp it's fine by me (I'm sure there are a few other exceptions out there). I also really want a bee hive so I can harvest my own honey not sure if thats one of the things you'd have to clear with the neighbors first though? | |

Tarantula's are pretty cool. The rosehairs are cheap and docile and the females live a while. Don't get a male - they don't live very long. Do be aware that they throw their hairs and you'll itch for a few days after playing with them. It feels like rubbing on fiberglass. Bees - I think all the CA bees are africanized, just sose you knows. It's no big deal - just don't weed whack around them.

Tarantula? They live in the US ? Yep they sure are. Theyre all over the south west. I see them every where especially at work. I used to have a pet tarantula when I was a kid. I named him rainbow (I dont know why since he was brown). I love pretty much anything living except roaches. Those creep me out.
