| This blew me away & is so cool! So I will occasionally show utube videos of birds singing or talking to Sputnik just to add some spice to his day. This one video in particular I've shown him maybe 10 times in the year I've had him and is of a little French budgie. It starts the video by saying "bonjour bonjour Babi" (hello hello Babi). Anyway, the other day Sputnik flew over to me and said very clearly "bonjour bonjour Babi"!!! I never would have thought he'd pick words up off a computer!!! Is that wild or what? I am so blown away. | |

He sounds to me like the sort that the one time you show him vocabulary you don't want him to pick up, he will!

| Well that's the thing - I've been SO careful what I say when I'm less than impressed with something. I've let a few things slip and am waiting to see if he'll surprise me with the colourful language... especially when someone's over! LOL. Little stinker.
I think being the only bird in the house has really been the motivating factor for him to communicate with me. I think if there were other budgies he might not be as interested in human language.
Seeing how quickly he picks up phrases, I regret not continuing his training! I had taught him turn around and targeting early on, and was in the process of teaching him fetch. For some reason I can't remember now we stopped training and now it's been about 6 months. He still remembers what I taught him but I don't know if he's keen on learning other tricks.

| Way to go Jan, It seems that birds learn to speak quicker from other birds, you need to pick out some other neat vids and get him on video talking to the monitor. | |
