Lost my sister-in-law yesterday evening

Kind of put a damper on the barbeque, to say the least. It was not unexpected, she had been in hospice care for several weeks, but very sad none-the-less. At the time we got that news, her mother was also not expected to survive the night, which was considerably less expected. But she has rallied and may survive at least a little longer. She was diagnosed with colon cancer two days ago, which is what her daughter died from, only after it had caused a complete blockage of her digestive tract resulting in aspiration into her lungs, which is the immediate threat to her life. Think good thoughts for her -- although it is likely the cancer will prove inoperable, it would be incredibly helpful for her to be able to organize her affairs so my husband does not have to make decisions on her behalf without knowledge. He is executor of his father's estate and the situation is incredibly complicated and messy. Not to mention sad.

My husband's sister was a very cool person, incredibly smart and creative. I only started to get to know her well when she got sick and I would have liked to have known her better. I'll miss her.

Aww Deb, that's really sad news and I'm terribly sorry to hear that y'all are having to go through this. My thoughts and prayers go out to you, Bill and his family. I can only imagine how difficult this is for all of you. Let us know if there's anything we can do to help.
