*sigh* But I don't LIKE budgies. PIC

I had budgies as a kid, and a pair a few years ago.

I grew to realize I am just not a budgie person.

I said I'd never have another budgie.

I said I'd never buy another bird from a pet store.

I said I would never have another "really little" bird.





Well, as always, the joke is on me!





Wasting time today before I had to be somewhere and after I have my lovebirds groomed I went over to PetSmart. My oldest kid was playing with some kittens for adoption. They were set up next to the bird/critter center.

A little, tiny, bitty, widdle budgie is on a perch staring at me. I went over and said hello. He was with a few other little ones but mostly lots of adults. He let me touch him thru the bars! He cheeped when I would walk away. If I came back he would fly over to me and let me touch him. He followed my finger up and down the cage. He was interested and curious about me and my toddler raising hell didn't phase him one bit. He would let me keep my finger near him and would cheep every time I left and fly to me when I came over.

Hook, line, sinker.



So I get him home and he is amazingly tame. He is so very small and young. I have no idea how young, maybe someone can tell me. He was clipped already. I asked if the guy knew how young he was and he said he wasn't sure he didn't normally work the birds. He is cuddled in my shirt snoozing. He lets me rub all over him, kiss his beak! He still gets "flighty" when I try to get him to perch on my finger but otherwise, he cuddles and lets me love on him. He hasn't even tried to bite me!



Obviously, I say he, but I have no idea if it is a male or female.

New baby is white with tiger striped wings and a violet patch on it's tail. Beautiful, like a tiny little snow owl!!



I am trying to take a picture with my webcam, I will have a pic ASAP.

I can't seem to get a better pic, my phone is charging so maybe I can get a better one with that later. I have to bend my lap top screen to get him with my webcam but then the color is all funky- boo!!!!!



Since I am not sure of gender, I need unisex ideas! I was thinking Hedwig, but it isn't original enough for me.

Well I was thinking about a nice cage.

I'll keep him in the dining room across from the lovebirds. Sparrow is in my room now.

Awwwwww...... you might be able to get some of the color in the photo back with editing, I think what's happening is that the automatic exposure is setting itself based on the dark background. You might also do better with a light-colored shirt.

Budgies are the best! But, you can never have just one. They are too addicting! They are everything I love of parrots into a small little package.

You need to steal a camera from someone and get some really good pics of him/her. In fact, I demand pictures of all your flock!

I've been debating whether or not to get another budgie. I have the room for one. The problem is that the bird room doesn't have a door. I could keep the new bird in the bathroom, but I'm not sure if that is safe (I don't use any hair electronic things like hair dryers).

I really want to get an accordion door for the bird room. But I don't know how to do that. I'm not really good at that kind of thing, plus how would I bring the damn door home?

ack, I've been trying to weasle my parents into letting me get a budgie (which isn't practical at all, I'm going to college next year!) but I feel like every bird owner has a budgie at some point in their lives and I love watching them... tiny parrots are great

my parents say they'll take care of her when I'm gone or I have a friend with a cockatoo and a 'tiel who could take her for a year... It all depends on the college I go to though! If I lived off campus it would be so tempting to add a bunch of birds >.<

Um, couldn't you email them to yourself and then post? That's what I used to do with my not-so-smart phone that wasn't internet connected. We wanna see!
