| Scooter is very picky about "dry" food. I've got him eating a fair variety of fruits and veggies, but mostly he picks out the safflower and millet seed from any dry mix. He doesn't even like sunflower seed! He also tends to like things very finely chopped, and tends to just dive in beak first.
Well, the other day I caught him eating a piece of dried veggie pasta! He had picked up a big orange fusilli in his foot and was munching down on it! This is very exciting, because while it isn't a pellet yet, it's kind of going in the right direction. Maybe persistence pays off after all.

| All of the birds around our house love pasta. It's good to hear scooter is trying something new.Have you tried giving him pellets one at a time by hand ? sort of like they're a special treat. | |

| Yay!! Do you leave pellets in the cage 24/7 for them? That's what I do and sooner or later everyone starts eating them. | |

| They have "dry mix" 24/7. For Scooter that's a seed and pellet blend, with extra pellets, pasta, chile peppers, dried veggies and a little dried fruit. For Scotty it's a bunch of different pellets, dried fruit, dried veggies, pasta and some pistachio nuts (about 1 nut per serving on average) and star anise and stick cinnamon. Scotty came to me eating a similar blend mixed up by the store he came from and Scooter came getting a commercial fortified seed blend.
Scooter's not that big on hand-held treats, so I'm not sure that would be as elling point.

| Yeah, I've done the seed & pellet blend. Still do. But I don't see them eat the pellets out of the mix, but they eat pellets when it's sitting in a separate bowl by itself. Don't know why. | |

| Guess I could try putting another bowl in there... but the cage only has 3 feeders (water, fresh, dry mix) and I'm not sure I can find another poop-free zone! | |
