I'm unsure if anyone has done this yet and I've been MIA, but our Secret Santa is still moving forward. Since not everyone who expressed interest initially joined our group, I'm putting our survey here. ANYONE PARTICIPATING MUST HAVE THIS IN BY OCTOBER 31.

Absolutely! You'll both be matched with different people and you'll both receive something from two different people, but the more the merrier.

I'm thinking that in addition to the bird-specific likes and dislikes in the survey, it might be fun to let people who are participating (or not for that matter) daydream out loud about what they might like to get!

Do you have a suggestion for location?

Looks like the Cap'n beat me to it! I have another question -- is the idea to maintain secrecy throughout to the extent possible given postmarks and potentially customs forms, or will we be revealing ourselves to our victims along with the gift?

Generally, you reveal yourself when you send the gift with a return address and postmark or card.

I've been in groups that did it both ways... some going to an elaborate effort to disguise identity (like getting a friend in a different state to ship). It's awkward when some do and some don't, so I thought I'd ask.

My sensibilities tell me that it's incredibly difficult to thank someone for a gift, even if it's a Secret Santa, without some form of identification. Aside from the fact that receiving gifts makes me feel awkward anyway, I'd feel supremely awkward receiving something without being able to appropriately thank someone.
