| So I had Scotty on my shoulder while I was fixing birdie breakfast the other day. I don't remember exactly what he did, but I remember saying "Oh, you are so cute!". At that point, he turned around to face frontward, gently bumped my cheek with his beak and made a loud kissing sound! He's never kissed me on the cheek before!
He has tried to French kiss, though. Cape parrots are really into their tongues. Everything gets explored with it. When doing the lip kiss thing, it can be very disconcerting! (Not to mention unhygienic and not to be encouraged!)

That's so cute! Ducky has an obsession with the monster in the cave. . . One day he's gunna grab someone's tongue.

| OH! I didn't realize I didn't actually post my thoughts on the tongue thing! LOL!
Somebody dropped off a Scarlet at work yesterday for the rescue. He's a big'ol ding-dong and will give kisses all day but doesn't want to be touched. When you lean over to kiss him, he sticks his great-big Macaw tongue out and kisses with that! It was really a surprise for someone who wasn't expecting it! LOL!

| Oh man. I never wanted a Cape until I held one Saturday. They look so damn ugly in pictures, but man alive. So pretty in person! | |

We certainly didn't go out looking for one, but they seem to have big personalities, and he won us over pretty rapidly. I certainly wouldn't trade Scotty for a "prettier" bird!

I'm not generally a fan of the African species birds. I don't know why, but their Cape was my "medium sized beak" introduction. And (s)he was so sweet. Except for pooping on me within like, ten minutes. If I ever find a damn job, I think I'm going to go through the adoption process for Jasper. And later on look at getting a Cape. Their faces are precious in person. But again, so damn ugly in pictures. Surprisingly, it doesn't look like they have a scaly head at all in person.

| Scaly head, LOL! The "dolphin smile" is pretty endearing. And Scotty, aside from the fact that he has occasional issues with my husband, is pretty perfect IMO. I find him way, way easier than Scooter. His idea of being naughty is passive resistance for the most part. | |

| Here is another story to make you want one! (See, I can be evil, too).
This morning I was in the kitchen doing various chores and Scotty was doing his native contact call repeatedly, which can get a bit wearing -- it's somewhere between a squeak and a honk. Exasperated, I called, "Good grief Scotty, why don't you try 'Hey bird' or something?". There was moment of silence and then, "Hey Bird!".
