Last year, I started watching the new Fantasy series "Game of Thrones" based on the "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series.
Since then, I've read all the books. You do not have to be into Fantasy or Medieval to appreciate the series. They're are just PHENOMENAL. I've heard many people say that it is the "Lord of the Rings" of our generation. I'm kind of obsessed with it really. I just went out and bought a map of Westoros (the land in which this series takes place) and several Game of Thrones shirts. I also already have a poster of Daenerys, my favorite character, the mother of dragons, framed and hanging proudly in my living room.
For the love of all that is good, watch the first season, better yet, read the books.
Here's a trailer for the upcoming second season, which will premiere April 1st on HBO.
And season one:

We love Game of Thrones! It is an incredible show, so well done! Haven't read the books though. I'd like to!

Do it! They are even better than the tv series!

The books usually are better than the movie. The book can be more descriptive, contains scenes the movies cut out for time, and best of all, allow you to use your imagination!

Actually, I've watched a few video reviews of the show, and apparently everything in the show is word for word same as the book. They only cut out one battle scene probably due to budget reasons.

Sadly, I would have to up my cable package to get this show, as it is on HBO. I don't currently get this channel.

It is very much like the book series. But still, nothing beats the written word!

We don't have cable/satellite...but that doesn't stop us from watching shows.
I like Netflix (it has randomly provided me with some great shows/movies...like Damages with Glenn Close & The Big C).
Husband gets his shows in a...different manner
We watched Game of Thrones, and by the end of the first season, Husband read through half of the series. He quickly finished the entire series (just after Christmas).
We can't wait for a new show to start since Dexter ended!
