Apple has lightly scalloped feathers all over his back and wings. They're not as striking as the real peals, but it definitely shows even if it's subtle. I'm wondering if this is normal for a regular wild type color?

A little scalloped edgeing might be "normal" but usually fades with age. It's not a bad gene (trait ) to see in a breeder bird.
