He did the Biiiirdy mash! (The birdy mash!)
It's that time again. The time when Poe has finished off his reserves of mash, and I am required to make more.
On this months menu:
Grapes Apples Strawberries Raspberries Blueberries Honey Dew Kiwi
Sweet potato Carrots Broccoli Corn Red Bell Pepper
And of course, 9 grain mix.
I also have zucchini, spinach and asparagus that I COULD add in. I am not sure if they are bird safe though, and so am requesting assistance.
Also, if I missed anything please let me know! I am still new to the birdie mash creation...

Everything is good but the spinach! Spinach inhibits the absorption of some nutrient that I can't think of now that I'm wanting to think of it, so we encourage people to limit the amount of spinach they give their fids. That's why I'd leave it out of the monthly mash. Everything else is perfect!
Only cook the potatoes and the grains. Leave everything else uncooked and run it through the food processor. You'll have a magnificent mash! YUM!

My recollection is that the deal with spinach is that too much of it can add too much iron to the diet. Same with grapes. Some is OK, but a large amount every day is discouraged.

Looks like I'm going to be picking grape halves out of the mash every second day...
It must be good, though. Doppler ventured away from his declaration of: "I will only eat spray millet!" to try some last night. I also caught him eating some seeds/pellets last night. Oh, how happy I was.
So happy!

Scotty gets a couple of grapes most days, so I'm not sure you need to pick them out. Just not let them be the sole component of the diet.
Yay for Doppler!

Yeah, and "too much" spinach interferes with calcium absorption. But highly unlikely a pet it going to get "too much" spinach unless you're feeding it 10 times a day every day, begin. I tend not to feed spinach at all primarily since I'm breeding and I don't want any chance it would interfere with calcium absorption.

Every time I read this topic, I imagine the "mash" being some sort of dance move.

I almost peed myself when I saw this, I was laughing so hard.
The hubby and I may or may not have danced the same dance while in the kitchen on Mash Day...

That was my very first thought! I like the sound of the mash though, might try some with my ravenous beast. I swear I've never seen such a big pig in a little body!
