Agreed! I don't know what it's like elsewhere in Canada, but currently goslings crossing the road are the cause of many near accidents, and the parents chase people - viciously.

It's currently that time of year in Winnipeg when you cannot go to any park/field/patch of grass without having to walk through Goose droppings, or risk getting chased through the park. They're pretty to photograph, but I could do without them crossing MAJOR HIGHWAYS during rush hour.

| I've been chased MANY times. Don't ever go near their babies, ever. They always warn you about the mama bear, but no one ever says anything about mother goose! | |

The other day we decided to go to the park, and ran into gosling daycare! There must have been at LEAST 20 goslings and about three adults caring for them. The babies ran up to us, honking the whole time... and the adults stood by and watched. I was shocked! No goose attack that day - though I did almost steal a gosling. I have a friend who works for Ducks Unlimited. Their office is located on a "duck reserve". Basically, it's a very large marsh with no hunting permitted. Every day he posts pictures of the geese and goslings. And man, he has some horror stories about being chased by angry geese. They're a menace! Pretty. And the babies are cute! But still a menace!
