| I have been breeding cockatiels for years and trying to come up with something other than the monochrome colors from white to grey. I could hardly believe my eyes when the colors started to show themselves on this young baby. [img] [/img] | |

| Envious!
I enjoy mutations, but don't have the skill or patience to breed anything cool like that. In case anyone's curious, it takes apprx. 2 years to establish a new mutation in a prolific species of bird. If it's not prolific, easily 10 years and the mutation's still not established. So Josie's accomplishment is quite something.

| Fascinating! I know nothing about avian genetics, but I wonder if somehow you've brought out the 'too in the 'tiel. Very pretty! | |

My uncle and his girlfriend (now wife) did that to our cockapoo (not cockatoo... those words cause much confusion in my reading of craigslist ads...) years ago when they were babysitting my brother and I. It is entertaining

A pink mutation would make me RICH but I do love the simple elegance and playfulness of a tiel they have long been my favorites. They are smart curious and just plain comical no matter what their color they are always a good sport.

| I know I've said this before, but cockatiels bring something special to a home. They are the heartbeat. Such beautiful, magical little birds. I miss having one so much. |
