And oh yeah. I've had bunnies. Jingle Belle and Chomper (appropriately named). Hated them. Chomper ended up attacking Belle and killing her. Terribly sad. Hated it.
Wont ever have bunnies again. Ever.
I had Guinea Pigs! I LOVED LOVED LOVED my piggies!!! If I lived in a more temperate climate, I'd have a house with a garden level basement like I do now, and let my piggies live outside my window! That would be the most cool thing ever for me! I dreamed about that while I had them here! I had a whole little piggy palace planned out in my head!
Unfortunately, it gets too cold for outside piggies here. I sent them to live with someone who had a bigger house so they could run and play and be happy piggies. I miss them bunches.

Something went wrong, the thing never processed. I've deleted it and am trying again....this appears to have worked properly. Ignore the woman behind the curtain.

I had a colleague who ran a guinea pig rescue. Last year I almsot wound up with a trio of rats from another colleague who was moving and threatening to just turn them loose. I learned that rats can be super pets and I was almost dissapoointed I didn't wind up with them. But they are so short-lived, I don't think I want pets that live such short lives, too hard on me!.

I heard it!!! It sounds like he's whispering.
The only thing I really understood was "Scoo bird," but I was listening on my phone, so that may be part of it.
That's cool!!!

His volume is better than the clip indicates, he's pretty far from the mic on the webcam, so you might want to turn the volume up a bit. It's "Pretty Scoo bird" he's saying...

I actually had the same problem when I was editing the clip down, I had a hard time deciding what was on the clip and what was being ad-libbed realtime.

Oh, conures speak human. I just think more people than not expect them to talk clear as a bell and when the bird only responds with the same meter to their little radio whisper, the person gets disappointed.
Aries would not stop saying ,"night night Aries" and "goood biiiiird" last night when we covered him. He wanted the light next to the bed turned off...then he went about practicing calling himself a good boy very quietly...and laughing. He likes to mimic hubby's laugh.
I think we understand what he's saying because we know what he's trying to mimic from us. Buuuuut he's slowing teaching us Sun Conure as well.
I know people that are so mad that their little guys don't speak human...and to that I say phoey! How can you not looooooove the little grunts and purring noises...and quacking like a duck while preening...and oh...well you guys know

And screaming and howling and destroying things, and we still love them The "other" people need a toy, not a real parrot, they don't appreciate what they have!

Update: JJ has actually started talking the Greencheek version of human! LOL!
It's pretty cute. The first time I heard her say anything was one night in Texas as I was falling asleep. The next morning, I couldn't figure out if it had been a dream or not. She didn't repeat it for a day or two, so I just figured I'd dreamed it. (It figures, right?) Anyway, eventually I heard her say, "step-up" fairly clearly and during daylight hours, so I knew it was real. Since then, I've also heard her say, "Ah Ah!" and make kissy noises back to me. She kisses me fairly regularly now.
She definitely isn't as clear as Bucky when she talks, but I'm sure of what she's saying, and I suppose that's all that really matters.

That's cool Vicki, I know it's not as clear as some, but it is recognizable if you listen. I had to convince my wife that Merlin was speaking when he first started.

My budgie sometimes makes these garbled noises and I try to believe she's speaking English... But I'm pretty sure it's just garble garble.

Do you REALLY want him to talk? I mean...they don't shut up now...lol
And my grandma said when I first rescued Aries that we needed to split his tongue for him to talk and then was super surprised that he did talk without doing it. What the heck?

I am SO kidding about splitting the tongue!! Where the heck did that myth start?
Chili peppers are supposed to help them talk, too. Where did that come from?

How did that start? Like...it sounds super painful and not like it would help anyone talk better...let alone a parrot.
Chili Peppers? What?

My Rory talks, but only when Tika isn't around. He says 'Hello Rory' 'Hey Roreeeee!' 'step up!' and makes kissy noises. OH is convinced that he actually whistles noises that sound similar, but the first time I heard him say step up I KNEW that that was what he was saying.

The weirdest thing for me lately is the lories. Now that they are all hormonal, some of them were starting to terrorize jeanne during feeding time so now that deptartment is all mine and for some reason they all love me. One of them, Lola, who is a blue streak lorie, just started talking to me and its so odd. Normally lories are better at sound effects and making buzzing and clicking noises, but Lola has been talking up a storm when i am at her cage. Not clear, but I can make out "Love you" "Come here" "Hi sweetie" and some other mumbles. Its pretty cute.
