Since there aren't so many books featuring parrots, I thought I'd mention that I'd reading Rita Mae Brown's historical fiction novel "Dolley" about first lady Dolley Madison. The Madison's kept a blue and gold macaw named "Uncle Willy" who plays a minor but consistent role in the book. I don't have the sense that Rita Mae Brown has as much feeling for parrots as she does cats, dogs and horses, but the bird's actions mostly do ring true and it's interesting to think about a parrot in the White House during the war of 1812. Wonder if anyone's done a children's book from his perspective?

I was watching the Big Bang theory, and there was an episode where Shelden was trying to figure out how to make friends. He went to the book store and went to the kids section. He picked out a book about a cockatoo going to the zoo. I forget what the book was called, and I don't know if it is even a real book.
