thanks guys! and how does to quarintine period work just keep them in
different rooms and wash hands in between handling them for 30 days
right? or is there more to it? and i looked up recommened cage sizes for
greys and i looked on ebay and i found 2 cages i really like but im not
sure about the second one because of the shape so i wanna know your
opionions! and thanks again everyone for all the help and encouragement!
im gonna order the cage after i get your opionions and then when it
gets here go get mikko then take her to the vet as soon as possible!

The idea of a proper quarantine is to keep him separated from your flock for at least 30 days, and take him to a vet to get blood work/gram stains done during this period all the while continuously monitoring his health. After the test results return safe, THEN you can start introducing him to Marty

My primary concerns with bringing in new birds are the nasty diseases. I figure the other stuff (bacterial infection primarily) technically is contagious, but treatable. Plus I feel a healthy bird with a good immune system isn't just going to catch a minor bug. I'm convinced I had swine flu back in 2008 (2009?), but none of my other family members came down with it.

You're going to be a vet. If you want you can do disease testing yourself at a very low price. I spent $55 recently on testing for 3 diseases through Avian Biotech:
