| we got some new birds at my school which im very excited about! we got 4 australian grass parakeets, 4 finches each a different kind, and 4 canaries. The grass parakeets and budgies will be going in the aviary along with the dove and possibly the red rump parakeet and were looking for a mate for the red rump right now so if anyone knows someone seeling a female red rump let me know! but anyways so thats 6 budgies, 4 grass keets, 1 dove, and possibly 2 red rumps in a huge aviary! the aviary is almost done it has a beautiful water fall that our landscaping class build and their designing the aviary theres safe plants everywhere! and braches attached to the side to perch, nesting material and a bunch of stuff i cant even remember but ill take pictures once its done their just waiting on the plexi glass for the outside so they dont get to cold and a few other things for the aviary. so far its awesome and i want one for my birds | |

| well today when i went into the aviary to get dishes replace food/water i saw a male and female grass keets preening each other and the male did this little mating dance thingy lol. maybe theyll have babies soon! the budgies have already started building their nests in the rocks by the waterfall. the teacher says no matter how many nest boxes they put in the parkeets always build their nests in the rocks ill take some pictures tomorrow if my teacher lets me! so far the birds are getting along great! my teacher decided shes not going to add the red rump parakeets and is still thinking about putting the dove in there with them but hasnt decided. maybe we can get a friend for the dove? they finished adding all the plants and perches in the aviary and the birds all love it! i really want an aviary like it, its like a miniature jungle | |

Never tried handfeeding one of those before . . . Oh no no no, thanks but um.. no. They're cute but do nothing for me. Nada. Zip. The only thing they have going for them is that they're quiet. (As I sit here listening to Sam scream his bloody head off....)

| My friend had a dove, not quiet. The constant cooing made me feel violent. |

But, yeah, they do coo constantly. At least the males do.

| Do the diamond doves coo all the time?
I know the "regular" ones do - it drives me to drink... but I haven't heard it so much from the itty bitty ones.

| Am I the only one who thinks the cooing is endearing? My grandmother is in a band, and this one revenue she used to always play at had this aviary with two doves. I'd always sit by their cage and listen to them. Now I want a dove | |

| Yeah, the diamond doves coo all the time also. But it is a very quiet cooing that I find soothing. . . shoot, then again, airhorns are soothing compared to sun conures. | |
