Losing a bird. Empty
PostSubject: Losing a bird.   Losing a bird. EmptySun Jun 10, 2012 11:33 pm

I always imagined losing a bird would be very difficult to deal with, but I figured it'd never happen to me. It's always one of those things that happens to those careless people who don't take precautions to safeguard their precious pets. It couldn't possibly be me.

While I didn't physically lose Piper or directly cause him to go missing, I did trust him with someone so irresponsible that his disappearance is my fault. Had I found a better foster, Piper would be safe with Pigpen and CB. He wouldn't be missing. He wouldn't likely be dead.

The past three weeks have been a rollercoaster of emotion. At first, I was too worried to be angry. Then I was too angry to be really worried. Now I'm angry and worried and coming to the realization that Piper will likely never come back home. I've gone through four "maybe Piper" contacts, and not one of them actually was. It gets harder every single time.

I would never wish losing a beloved pet on anyone. It really is one of the hardest things I've had to deal with, and being 4 hours away hasn't made it any easier. I've exhausted all of my contacts and have run out of places to post ads.

The best I can hope for now is that someone found him and loved him so much that they decided to keep him.

You have done everything on the list of things to do to try to reclaim a missing pet. I bet some loving, caring person found your bird and is caring for Piper as we speak. Smile

I'm very sorry. I wish I had something more useful to say.
