I didn't put this in the recipe thread because it's not really a recipe... it's more just a comment on what I made today to give you an idea of what you can do yourself.

When you cook for your fids, there's no magic to it. Just find what's available in the store, steam or microwave it, throw it in the food processor, and call it dinner! Your fids will love it!

whole pumpkin
two butternut squash
2 cups quinoa - uncooked
1 cup hulled millet
several (4-Cool whole red and green bell peppers (stems removed, otherwise intact)
broccoli
carrots
zucchini
green beans
corn

Steam everything thoroughly, cook quinoa, add millet to quinoa halfway through cook-time.
Scrape the seeds and string out of the pumpkin and squash and set aside.
Scrape the meat out of the skin and put in the food processor. Process until smooth. Place in a LARGE bowl.
Process remaining veggies to a "diced" consistency and add to the squash/pumpkin mix.
Add cooked quinoa and millet.
This becomes your vegetable base. My birds love it as is, but it gets better.

Tomorrow, I'll divide the base up into thirds:
~To one third I'll add spaghetti sauce, pasta, and about 1/2 lb. cooked ground turkey. I'll call that Spaghetti (or lasagna depending on the noodles I decide to add Wink )
~To the second third I'll add a cooked bean mix with various whole grains. That will be my "bean" mash.
~To the final third I'll probably add some cooked egg noodles with the second 1/2 lb cooked ground turkey.
That will be my chicken noodle soup. The birds LOVE this one!

These are only a few of the ideas you can use when cooking for your fids.

Do you love chinese? Add Hoisin sauce and chinese noodles. Yum!
Pizza? Make a whole-wheat thin crust, use the base with some pizza sauce as a sauce, throw some whole veggies on there and toss in the oven. Yummy!!!

Experiment to find out what your fids like - and what YOU like! You never know, you may be surprised!
