| We started doing that. We have a yard frequented by Quail, Thrashers, sparrows, Killdeere, house wrens, orioles, hummingbirds and also a bunch of cottontail bunnies and the occasional jackrabbit.
Any reason this would be bad for them? They even clean up the pellets! | |

| Yeah, I do. I'm certainly not an expert in the field of wild bird feeding, but I think the only hazard you cause for them is that they may become dependent on you for a steady food source. I would think they'd be able to readjust somewhat easily though. We used to buy seed for the wild birds until it became too expensive (they eat a lot, the little flying pigs!); after we stopped a bunch disappeared, but I don't recall many, if any, dying. Certainly it wasn't as big a deal for the little creatures as the crazy weather - that took a ton of house sparrows out. | |

| I feed the parrot leftovers to the chickens and goats too. Don't see why it would be bad for the wild birds. Variety's good for everyone. | |

| When I was at my grandparents house, I noticed that my Nona feeds the birds leftover bread. You should see them all waiting for her. Very cute. | |

| We used to do that a lot as well, before we moved out to the woods. I miss it, especially in the winter when the little finches would come and peck at the bread we would throw out into the snow. | |

| The only problem with all this feeding of the wild critters as that I now think we have about 100 pets! The quail have taken to running towards my husband when they see him, as he is the feeder-in-chief! | |
