Feather-challended Parrots in need in Los Angeles area

This from the store where we got Scotty.  We may be interested in Charlie.  I have a note in to the owner, I don't understand what the city cares about feathers or the lack thereof....  will keep you posted.  If you know of a potentially interested person, let me know.

Yeah, I saw this message on a list I'm on. 

Something about LA is passing a truck load of AR-type laws that's really making it hard to have anything animal related in the city.  From my understanding, the owner of the store is moving out of that location due to the restrictive regs.

I hadn't heard that.  I'm aware they've banned selling kittens and puppies in stores; adoptions only. That I'm on board with.  But breeders who have a store, I have no issue with.   I Googled looking for increased regulation on birds, but didn't find anything.  I hope my favorite store, which is in NoHo is still in good shape.

I think it's primarily West Hollywood that's passing a bunch of laws.

While that sounds good, from my understanding that means also no "trade shows" like bird marts (even not selling animals) and birds in parades and such (for instance a bird club's participation in events like that).

Too broad.  Too restrictive for my tastes.

Judy's out in Tarzana, so that shouldn't affect her.  I agree, there is a fine balance between animal welfare and preventing people from enjoying well cared for pets, and this falls pretty far on the wrong side of the line.

Scenario - I have a great bird I think you'd like SnS.  We discuss and decide to meet half way between San Diego and your place at a Starbucks so you can interact with the bird.  We get together and spend the afternoon on the Starbucks patio drinking lattes and playing with the bird.  You decide you'll take the bird home and give me $20 for the bird.
We have just committed a crime in California.
How messed up is that?
