I was just scrolling through the new threads and this title totally caught me off guard!!

Yeah, what is up with Apple?!? I take him outside, and he'll try to call the wild birds outside. Almost everywhere, you can hear some sort of a wild bird chirping every so often. So Apple does the Cockatiel scream trying to contact them. He doesn't necessarily seem phobic of the new environment, he'll just squawk every 3 seconds for a LONG time- however long we stay out for.

I feel like Apple really wants to communicate with the wild birds, can't think of a better explanation..

Chico is doing similar thing. Specially, when we're in the forest and she can hear a lot of different birds. When she forgets about fighting her harness, she make those Wee Wee calls and it's cute Cool

Bonnie is actually the loudest out of everyone. I think she just likes the sound of her voice.

Scooter thinks the coffee machine and dishwasher are contact calling him. I wonder if that's why a lot of birds pick up those sounds? It took me almost a year to realize that's what he was doing, but he contact calls back to them just exactly as he does to me when I'm in the house and not nearby. It's not as obvious with wild birds, because I don't pick out their calls the same way, but maybe when I start getting him outside more he'll do that, too.

Scotty has picked up a lot of sounds but does not obviously converse with the electronics the way Scooter does. I don't know if it is because he is smarter or less social.

Hopefully I'm not over hijacking the thread!

Maybe parrots should be issued with a pair of noise cancelling headphones! It's funny, I'm really pretty sensitive to manmade noises and I hate the TV being too loud. I can only stand loud music when I'm psyched up for it and ready to exist totally in the sound... and possibly with a martini on board. But my husband, whom I am constantly asking to turn something down, is the one that gets bothered by the birds yelling. I guess I've decided on some fundamental emotional level that it can't be controlled and that I should therefore let it wash over me.

Sorry have been blind legally blind and then some and I think I could take the silence to see the beauty. But that is just me after not being able to see any of my birds less than 3 feet away and none of their expressions.

Sam's dad mimics crows. . . off in the distance. So it's a little muffled, distant "caw, caw, caw".
