| So...no owners have come forward. Noone so far has been found that is willing to take Cheeky either...
Despite my disinterest. I may have earned myself a new bird.
I'm still hoping that someone will come forward and offer to take him. But in the mean time....
A few things I have learned about this bird since we've had him...
1) Its definitely male. He sings like a canary. Get him whistling and he doesn't stop. 2) he doesn't know what toys are 3) hes still terrified of me
So. I know the basics of how to get him use to people, and to our presence. And he is more comfortable with us. But he freaks if I stick my hand in the cage (probably because I either steal (and replace) his food. or towel him.) He also completely ignores the toys. The ONLY thing this bird does, is sit on the food bowl and eat. And poop. and sing. That it. It doesn't even switch perches.
So. I'm thinking of stowing food in other locations of the cage to make him MOVE. But....how do I teach him what toys are?
I'm booking him an appointment next week. Getting a check up, getting that zip-tie cut off, toes done, and wings done.

Yes. Twist ties or paper clips. Twist ties are easier. You could also tie little bits of millet all over the cage to get him moving around. I use those black binder clips from office supply stores. You could also tie little bits of millet to toys to get him exploring toys.

| it worked! I put millet in yesterday. He didn't notice it ALL DAY. But today; hes apparently clued in, and is scrambling around to chow down on the millet. | |

| Yay! I've also heard of people tieing food into coffee filters, but I think it would take time for him to figure that out. The millet sounds perfect for now!
Somehow I missed this whole story, I'll have to back and look for it!
